Conservative Neil Jones won the vacant Frithville seat on East Lindsey District Council at a by-election yesterday.

Coun Jones beat UKIP’s Colin Mair, winning 221 votes to his rival’s 163.

Colin Mair had this week been installed as the leader of the UKIP group on Lincolnshire County Council and holds the Tattershall seat on the county authority.

Coun Jones’ victory means there are now 29 Tories on the 60-seat authority.
