AFTER commenting on a recent BBC’s Politics Show that he would not want his family treated at some wards at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and Skegness MP Mark Simmonds has now spoken out about the latest Care Quality Commission report.
“My comments only applied to a couple of wards and have been evidenced by the recent report published by the CQC.” he said.
“The report has identified several key areas where improvements must be made.
“Poor quality care in any hospital is totally unacceptable and should not be allowed to continue.”
However, Mr Simmonds was quick to stress how hard staff work at Pilgrim Hospital ‘under difficult circumstances’.
“The majority of front line care available at Pilgrim is of a high standard and the hard work and dedication of its staff should not be diminished or devalued in any way by recent events,” he said.
Concluding, Mr Simmonds added: “I will be meeting with the chief executive of the hospital trust imminently, to discuss future action to improve the quality of care available at Pilgrim Hospital.”
