PRIDE AWARDS: Youth Achiever Award

Take a look at the contenders of our Youth Achiever Award category of the 2012 Boston Standard Pride Awards...

*Synergy, Boston High School

A group of young pupils from Boston High School called Synergy have had a successful year, winning first place against stiff competition in a local Dragons’ Den style entrepreneurial event.

The group of 15 pupils were triumphant in the multi-school Lion’s Lair event, held as part of National Enterprise Week.

Their nominator pointed to this success and the young group’s determination in coming up with a strongly-branded and highly-marketable product range of detachable earphone accessories.

*Patrick Hildred

Seventeen-year-old Patrick has notched up many achievements both in and out of school.

Asides from being the deputy head boy of school, he gained six A* and two As at GCSE and jointly edits the school newspaper.

His nominator also pointed to his extra-curricular activities, playing squash for the county and having qualified as a coach.

He is also a producer at Endeavour Radio where he provides commentary on Boston United matches and presents a Thursday evening show.

Venturing into the political sphere, Patrick has also recently completed work experience with MP Mark Simmonds in Westminister.
