MEETING an Olympic legend was just part of the excitement for pupils at Butterwick Primary School - after a privileged visit to the London Olympic stadium.
The school, in School Lane, was selected by the Boston and District Schools Sport Partnership for 11 pupils and three members of staff to attend the Sainsbury’s 2012 School Games at the Olympic Stadium in London.
This was the last event to be held at the Olympic Stadium before the opening ceremony in the summer and the students met former tripe jump champion Jonathan Edwards.
Pupil Callum Mullenger, 11, said: “Watching the swimming was first on the agenda which we all enjoyed but we found the velodrome cycling very exciting as there was a crash amongst the competing atheletes.”
He added: “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for the pupils and staff.”
