STUDENTS from St Bede’s Catholic Science College in Boston have been using teamwork and cooperation to win a national competition.

The pupils won three separate awards in the Rock Challenge - Be Your Best competition.

They picked up top spot for drama skills, original dance concept and healthy lifestyle.

It means the school has now won 38 county, northern final and national awards during the last three years.

The win followed success in the March county final at the Embassy Theatre, Skegness where the pupils scooped the first prize.

It meant the college represented Boston, and Lincolnshire, in the Northern ‘A’ final which took place at the Grimsby Auditorium Theatre in the first week of June.

An 18-hour day culminated in a night of entertainment which saw the college compete against 11 other regional winners from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and resulted in the college coming sixth place overall.

Administration assistant Vanessa Cannon said: “For such a small school it was a tremendous achievement and justly rewarded the hours and hours of practice by the students both after school and at weekends.

“The staff involved deserve great praise for their dedication and hard work, especially dance teacher Mrs Langley and lead teacher Mrs Henshaw.”

She added: “All have been fantastic ambassadors for the college and the town and St Bede’s is held in high regard by the organisers of this national dance competition.”
