ORGANISERS are hoping to have raised more than £130,000 for charity after 1,460 women took part in Boston’s Race for Life on Sunday.
The women of all ages, sizes and capabilities walked, jogged and sprinted the 5k Boston Race For Life which took place at the Princess Royal Sports Arena, in Great Fen Road, in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Olivia Molitor, area events manager for the charity, said: “It was really good and we had a really good turnout.
“Luckily it didn’t start raining until half-an-hour before the end of the event.”
The fastest runner crossed the line in 25 minutes and those in fancy dress included a pair of bananas.
Olivia added: “It was very positive, very impressive and we hope the same numbers will turn out year, after year.”
Organisers are now waiting for the rest of the sponsorship to come in so they can tally up the totals.
