A Royal Air Force Typhoon pilot, based at RAF Coningsby, has received the MBE in the 2014 New Year’s Honour List.
Squadron Leader Al Allsop’s pioneering work on the use of Typhoon flight simulators has transformed their use in support of training for both students and front-line pilots.
Group Captain Johnny Stringer, Station Commander at RAF Coningsby, said ‘I am absolutely delighted that Al’s dedication, innovation and hard work have been recognised by Her Majesty. Al’s work has been truly ground-breaking, he has enhanced the operational capability of the Typhoon Force and we are the better for his thoughtful and unstinting efforts’.
Sqn Ldr Allsop has served at RAF Coningsby for 7 years, first on 29 Squadron and now as a Flight Commander on XI Squadron.
