A TRIAL order banning traffic from turning right from Sleaford Road onto Brothertoft Road in Boston has been made permanent by councillors – despite a flurry of objections surrounding the move.
Lincolnshire County Council received 18 letters opposing the order and a petition signed by 100 people, yet the planning committee still made the decision to apply the change, which was put in place to stop queueing traffic causing congestion on the A52.
About 50 letters were also sent to executive councillor William Webb.
Earlier this year councillors admitted that traffic along Carlton Road, which has been used by motorists as an alternative route, has increased by 31 per cent since the barring order was put in place in February.
Average traffic movements outside Carlton Road Primary School have increased by 300 per cent.
