A project to create a lasting memorial for road crash victims in Lincolnshire has received £1,040 worth of donations from individuals and businesses.

More than £1,000 was raised at a cheese and wine evening held at Westwood Lakes, Wyberton, which was offered free of charge for the event by owner Alan Coupland.

It also provided free wine, with cheeses donated by South Lincs Foodservice of Sutterton, Morrisons of Pinchbeck and Sainsbury’s, Spalding, along with raffle prizes from donors.

Anne Bourne, who lost her daughter Louise Nuttell, of Swineshead, after a crash in 2004, said: “We thought it would be an idea to try to compile a list of contacts for any future events we want to hold.

“It is for a good cause and, ideally, we would like to hear from musicians prepared to help and entertain for the love of the music.

“We can provide appreciative audiences but we are realists and, where necessary, there will be some money to cover expenses.”

The Lincolnshire Roads Victims Memorial Appeal was laucnhed in May to create a special memorial area in Westgate Woods, near the A52 between Frampton and Wyberton.

Fundraising has started towards leasing the land and the next charity event will be a fashion show by online company Lincs Fashions at Boston United Football Club’s York Street ground on Wednesday, November 9.
