More than £1,500 has been raised for Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital in a team effort between two runners and a town pub.

Some £1,520.01 has been presented to the hospital’s Breast Unit following the joint fundraiser.

It involved Colin Creasey, 55, of Gosberton, and Ady Allgood, 52, of Donington, who completed the Great North Run for the cause, and Goodbarns Yard, in Wormgate, where further fundraising activities took place.

Colin, a member of Louth Athletics Club, was inspired to launch the fundraiser by his sister-in-law Allison Gott, manager at Goodbarns Yard, who has been receiving treatment for breast cancer.

Colin’s friend Ady agreed to join him on the half marathon (their fourth Great North Run together) and the pair raised about £1,000 between them.

At the pub, staff, friends and customers donated loose change to the cause, while landlord Anthony Luto pledged 50p per meal sold on the weekend of the Great North Run towards the total.

Colin said they were ‘over the moon’ with the amount raised.

Ady added: “We didn’t expect to raise the amount of money we did.”
