A slimming group is putting on a ‘race for life’ event in Boston at the end of the month as part of a nationwide drive to support a cancer charity.
Members of Slimming World groups across the town are running the fundraising event at the Peter Paine Performance Centre on Saturday, July 26.
The event - from 2pm to 4pm - will raise cash for Cancer Research UK and competitiors can cover distances of 1km, 3km or 5km.
They can run, walk, cycle or take part in anyway they choose.
Jenny Gardner, who runs the Unitarian Meeting Room group in Boston, said: “We’d love anyone to join us whether they’re young, old, male or female and whatever their current fitness level.
“Anyone who wants to take part can run, walk or even dance the distance – as long as they cross the finish line we don’t mind.”
She added: “Cancer touches so many people’s lives and at Slimming World we’re determined to do anything we can to help people lead healthier lives in whatever way possible, that’s why I’m so pleased that my group is getting behind this event and encouraging others to do the same.”
People are also encouraged to head down as spectators to cheer on those taking part on the day.
The group’s race is part of a national event running across all Slimming World groups between July 21 and August 2.
