A STICKNEY couple are feeling ‘cock-a-hoop’ with their new national dog club for cockapoos enjoying success.

The Cockapoo Club of GB was recently founded by cockapoo breeders Stephen and Julia Charlton of Stickney.

Cockapoos are a cross between cocker spaniels and poodles.

The couple said: “They are intelligent, loving dogs and becoming increasingly popular as family pets.  There are many variations in size and colour but they all have long coats, smiley faces and a huge appetite for fun.”

Stephen and Julia set up the club after chatting to other cockapoo owners in online forums and realising there was a need for a specialist website.

“We have new members joining us every day,” said Julia.  “It’s amazing how quickly the club has grown.”

As well as offering information and networking opportunities to cockapoo owners, the club’s focus is to promote animal welfare and encourage ethical breeding practices.

The club recently trained a group of 16 forum users, from all over the country, to become inspectors to gather information and provide support and advice.

Stephen added: “By setting the bar high we hope that these wonderful dogs can be fully catered for with regards to health and longevity.”
