FOUR decades of service to the same job is impressive enough, but a Kirton worker at Boston’s Marks and Spencer store has vowed to work another 10!

On Thursday, the Market Place store’s longest-serving worker Christine Watson officially opened the newly-revamped premises in a ribbon cutting ceremony. She was joined by the store manager Mandy Harley who herself has recently completed 25 years’ service.

Christine started at the store straight from school and her first role in the store was working on the sock counter.

“I really enjoy it here and have made so many friends, it’s like one big family,” said Christine.

She added: “I’m only part time now but I plan to carry on working here for another 10 years as I’d like to celebrate my 50th!”

As part of the celebrations on the day, shoppers at the store were treated to champagne and the chance to win a share of £1,000 in M&S gift cards by finding gold stars hidden around the store.
