Councillors in Kirton are hoping lights will be installed to boost safety at a ‘dangerous’ crossing that lies near two busy junctions.

Parish council chairman Alan Lee said the authority was positive about talks it had held with Boston borough and Lincolnshire county councils over the possibility of installing the lights.

The plan would be to install them near Beeson’s Butchers on High Street in the village, opposite St Peter and St Paul’s Church.

There is a 30mph speed limit on this stretch of
road.

Coun Lee said: “The council has been fighting to get the lighting on that crossing and are now in talks with the borough and county council who support our claim.

“Hopefully this crossing will be put on the list, it’s only 100 yards from two busy road junctions.

“Lots of people in the village have concerns and know that crossing, it’s such a dangerous position.”
