PEOPLE travelling on East Midlands Trains services from Boston to Nottingham will have to board a replacement bus service at Grantham following a railway bridge collapse at Grantham.
The rail operator’s Nottingham to Skegness services, which serve Boston, will start and terminate at Grantham while engineering work is carried out at Allington.
A bank slip caused the bridge there to collapse.
EMT says it is hoping to run a normal service between Grantham and Skegness, with buses put on between Grantham and Nottingham.
An East Midlands Trains spokesman said: “We apologise for the disruption caused to our passengers by this major problem.
“Network Rail engineers are on site working hard to repair the bridge and re-open the line, however we understand this requires major work and therefore unfortunately have no estimate of when we will be able to start running our normal service again.
“We will ensure we do everything possible to keep passengers on the move whilst work is carried out by Network Rail.”
