POLICE divers are combing the River Haven after a car went off the road and into the water in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were called out to Goods Yard on London Road in Boston at around 1am.

A force spokesman said there had been one man - a 27-year-old from Woad Farm Road in Boston - in the Citroen Saxo when it went off the road and he was recovered by fire crews. He has now been arrested on suspicion of being over the drink drive limit.

She added that it was unlikely that there had been another person in the car, but the under water search team was being used as a precautionary measure.

Diversions along London Road were in place for several hours, but they have now been lifted.
