Driver seriously injured after collision at Heckington blocks A17

Lincolnshire Police say a male driver has been seriously injured in a crash this afternoon on the A17 at the Heckington junction.

According to the Tactical Road Policing Team, the A17 is closed from Sleaford to East Heckington due to a collision which was reported at around 3.15pm.

The warning of delays was put out on their social media Twitter feed saying that diversions are in place and the road was likely to be closed for “a few hours”.

A police spokesman said: “A male driver is seriously injured.”

There are no details as yet about the vehicles involved.

Drivers are advised to use Sidebar Lane and A153 diversions and avoid using Heckington village.

The wet weather has made driving conditions hazardous today with standing water in many places and police have also warned about water on the roads between Sleaford and Bourne.
