THIS image shows the scene following a collision which left a driver in a ‘critical but stable condition’ on Saturday.

The 31-year-old Sutton Bridge man, who was driving a silver Ford Focus, swerved across the road near to the Castle Inn pub and hit the wall of a nearby cottage at around 9.25pm on Saturday. He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries.

There were no passengers in the car and police do not believe that any other vehicles were involved.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to help with an investigation. They would particularly like to speak to the occupants of a black car that may have been in the area at the time to establish if they witnessed the accident.

Anyone with information contact Pc 466 Raynard of the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting incident number 497 of June 2.
