A police car left the road and went into a ditch near Swineshead, Lincolnshire Police have confirmed.
The Standard approached the force after a report of a police car in a dyke where the A52 meets Blackjack Road.
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police confirmed the incident had taken place, saying it happened at about 10.30am yesterday (Wednesday).
They said the officers involved were not injured and the matter would be recorded and investigated like any incident on the county’s roads.
“We treat this the same way as any other collision,” they said.
They described police being involved in accidents on the road – be it a shunt or something more substantial – as ‘not an unusual thing’, nothing that officers do ‘a lot of miles on the road’.
“Police cars will get involved in accidents, the same as any other motorist,” they said.
