Police are reviewing CCTV footage of Boston Borough Council’s car park after a member reported that her car had been damaged.

Coun Helen Staples’ Citroen C3 Picasso suffered a scratch and chip to the bumper while she was attending a licensing meeting at the Municipal Buildings on March 25.

It was not until the next day that she spotted the damage - which will need to be re-sprayed.

Although Coun Staples says the damage is ‘minimal’, no-one has come forward to contact her about the incident to apologise and exchange details.

She has now reported the matter to the police saying that it was a ‘matter of principle’.

Officers are now investigating to see whether a charge needs to be brought for failing to stop and report a road traffic collision.
The matter is in the hands of the collision records department.

Anyone who witnessed the collision can contact police on 101 quoting incident 131 of March 28.
