UPDATE: Fatal Mother’s Day collision in Swineshead

MORE details have emerged about the fatal road traffic collison on the A52 at Swineshead yesterday.

An 81-year-old man, from Pode Hole near Spalding, died at the scene of a crash between his Kia Picanto and a blue Mitsubishi L200 near Bicker Bar roundabout at about 4.30pm.

His 77-year-old female passenger remains at Pilgrim Hospital in a critical condition suffering from multiple fractures.

The occupants of the Mitsubishi were a family from Mareham on the Hill, Horncastle.

The 37-year-old female driver was travelling in the car with her 50-year-old husband and two children, a girl aged six and a boy aged one.

The woman was checked over by medical staff but police say that no-one from that vechile suffered a serious injury.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or either vehicles before the collision, to contact the Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855, quoting incident 324 of March 18.

Police say that this fatal collision brings the number killed on Lincolnshire roads in 2012 to seven compared to 10 at the same point in 2011.
