A man who was seriously injured in a crash at Antons Gowt has died of his injuries in hospital.

The 34-year-old, who has been named as Andrew Lee Racey, of Castledyke Bank, Gipsey Bridge, suffered what police referred to as ‘extremely serious head injuries in the collision, which happened at Frith Bank on Saturday, and was taken to Pilgrim Hospital.

Police said the incident, which happened at 8.30am, was a single vehicle collision and Mr Racey, who was driving a blue Ford Focus, was the only person involved.

The road was closed until 1.30pm.
