UPDATE WEDNESDAY 12.05PM: Road re-opens after four-vehicle crash on A17

The A17 between Sutterton and Bicker Bar roundabouts has now re-opened after a four-vehicle crash in which three people were injured.

It happened in Hoffleet Stow, between Bicker and Wigtoft, where three cars and a lorry collided at about 5.30am this morning.

A woman is being treated at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital for chest injuries and two men, described as “walking wounded” by East Midlands Ambulance Service, were also checked over at the hospital.

The section of road was closed for about six hours while the vehicles involved in the crash were recovered.

WEDNESDAY 11.10AM: Three people taken to hospital after four-vehicle A17 crash

Three people have been taken to hospital, one with chest injuries, after a four-vehicle crash on the A17 near Swineshead today.

Emergency services were called to Hoffleet Stow, between Bicker and Wigtoft, where three cars and a lorry had collided at about 5.30am this morning.

Firefighters used cutting gear to free a woman who, along with two men, were treated at the scene by paramedics and then taken by ambulance to Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital.

The crash caused delays to rush-hour motorists using the A16 and A17, including Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian reporter Lynne Harrison who said: “It took nearly 20 minutes for me to drive from Quadring to the Gosberton junction where you turn for Spalding when this normally takes five to eight minutes.

“The traffic was at a standstill in Gosberton for much of the time.”

Diversions are currently in place on the A17 between Sutterton and Bicker Bar roundabouts, with motorists being asked to use the A52 to Donington, the A152 through Quadring and Gosberton and the A16 north to rejoin the A17 at the Sutterton Roundabout.

A number of people have been injured, one seriously, after a four-vehicle crash on the A17 at Hoffleet Stow, near Swineshead, this morning.

Three cars and a lorry collided at about 5.30am and paramedics have treated a number of casualties.

Police have currently closed the road between Sutterton and Bicker Bar roundabouts, with diversions in place along the A52 to Donington, the A152 through Quadring and Gosberton and the A16 north to rejoin the A17 at the Sutterton Roundabout.
