Emergency repairs on a leaking water mains has left Boston roads gridlocked and bus services running late this morning.
Anglian Water have confirmed that temporary traffic lights have now been removed from Spilsby Road.
However, the Tollfield Road junction will remain closed all day with water supplies to be affected at 100 properties when repairs are made later tonight.
A spokesman for the water authority said that planned work on a leaking water valve began last night, but as workmen excavated down they discovered an additional leak on a mains pipe.
He said: “The Tollfield Road junction is to remain closed all day. We are not doing any work to fix this now as it will mean turning off water supplies to 100 properties, including a school, so workmen will return at 10pm tonight.”
He said all properties to be affected tonight will be notified of the works, adding: “We apologise to road users for the disruption today.”
