It was a close competition when Boston took on their French counterparts to bid for the Valentine Cup (pictured above). The town’s Pilgrim Bowmen hopped over the water to take on twin town Laval in this year’s archery contest and narrowly missed out, with Laval scooping the prize.
The competition is run to keep up the link between Boston and Laval, in the north of France, which was established in 1958.
Chairman of Boston International Committee Ian Clayton said: “The competition was close fought and Boston’s archers tried hard but, on reflection, perhaps they had been sabotaged by too
much good food and wine.”
Next year Boston will host the competition for its French visitors.
