Two charged after reports of hare coursing

Two men have been charged under the Hunting Act after they were arrested in Midville, near New Leake yesterday (Wednesday).

John Devine, 30, of Chaddesden, Derby, and Wayne Hitchcock, 33, also from Derby, were arrested on suspicion of hare coursing after police were called to the area at around 7am.

The men’s three dogs were safely transported to a kennel their vehicle also seized.

Both have today been charged with hunting a wild mammal with dogs under the Hunting Act 2004 and will appear before Boston Magistrates on 12 April 2017.

Both men have been restricted from entering the county until this time.
