Four shops were affected by the burst water main outside West End Cinema this afternoon, however, an Anglian Water spokesman has said the repairs should be finished this evening.
A force spokesman said police were called to the scene at 1.25pm after water began rising through the pavement causing concern that the cinema could be hit by the water.
However, a spokesman for the cinema said the water didn’t reach that far.
Police cordoned off the area while waiting for Anglian Water to arrive. They are now on scene and it is hoped the problem will be fixed in the next two hours.
Meanwhile, the cinema has opened it’s back doors so that the public can continue to access the business.
