AN HGV driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a four-vehicle crash on the A17 on Friday.
A Newark man, aged 45, died at the scene of the crash at Swineshead Bridge which happened at about 1.50pm.
The man had been driving a white Vauxhall Combo van. The other vehicles involved were a black Fiat Doblo, a heavy goods vehicle and a red Honda Civic.
The HGV driver, a 51-year-old Lincoln man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on police bail until June 14.
The driver of the Doblo was a 25-year-old woman from Pontefract and the Civic driver was a 63- year-old Boston man.
They went to the Pilgrim Hospital but are not believed to have been seriously injured.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who were driving along the A17 on Friday afternoon and who have any information about the collision to call 01522 558855.
The road was closed at Bicker Bar roundabout and East Heckington for much of the afternoon.
This fatality brings to 8 the number killed on Lincolnshire’s roads in 2012 compared to 14 at the same point last year.
