UPDATE: Police investigate burglary after Skirbeck Road fire

Police are investigating a burglary in which a homeowner was reported to have returned to find their house broken into and a fire in their bedroom.

Emergency services were called to the fire, on Skirbeck Road, Boston, at 1.09pm yesterday (Wednesday).

A fire and rescue spokesman said the blaze was upstairs in the property and appears to have been started in a bedroom.

They said, the fire caused severe damage to that bedroom and one more and there was also smoke damage to the upstairs of the property.

Two crews from Boston and one from Kirton attended the incident.

No-one was inside at the time of the incident.

A police spokesman confirmed police were investigating a burglary at the property and were waiting for the results of Fire and Rescue’s investigation team regarding the fire.

Fire left the scene at about 4.30pm.

The road was closed while the fire was put out but reopened shortly before 3pm.
