VIDEO: Eight fire appliances at fire in Boston Pilgrim Hospital

Eight fire appliances are currently at the scene of a major incident at Boston Pilgrim Hospital in Sibsey Road in Boston this morning.

Fire crews were called at 5:59am. Boston Standard reader Katie Dawson messaged the paper: “Every one evacuated from Pilgrim. Fire on stroke unit.” The hospital has confirmed: “Due to a fire at Pilgrim hospital, Boston, day case appointments and elective operations have been cancelled today. Outpatient appointments will go ahead as planned. The hospital will in contact with patients to rearrange those appointments.” . It is understood the fire may have been sparked by a microwave. Around 25 patients who were on the floor at the time are understood to have been moved to alternative wards within the hospital.
