VIDEO: Protesters verbally clash as English Defence League marches through Boston

The English Defence League (EDL) marched through Boston town centre this afternoon (Saturday), where they were met with counter-protesters.

A group of around 25 EDL members and supporters marched in protest against what they described as ‘rising levels of immigration’, and called for the Government to ‘invoke Article 50’ - which would trigger the UK’s official withdrawal from the European Union.

The march set off from the St George’s Street car park, chanting ‘we want our country back’ as they headed through the Market Place towards Wide Bargate - where speeches took place in front of a large gathered crowd.

Throughout the speeches, there were angry verbal clashes between EDL supporters and some counter-protesters who were standing amongst the crowd.

However, the event was heavily policed and there was no violence.
