You may remember how last month we decided to launch a petition to oppose the possibility of shutting the town’s main Post Office branch and putting it in the back of another shop.

We’ve been delighted to get more than 150 signatures in support of keeping the Wide Bargate branch so far.

Your support in signing – and messages – show a strong sense of feeling in favour of saving the post office.

We’ll keep the petition going for a little longer yet and, will then ensure we deliver your names to the powers that be at the Post Office, who says the plans as yet are still just an idea. We want to nip in before they get any further and stop it becoming a reality.

We all understand the need to cut costs in straitened times – we’ll be hearing plenty about that from George Osborne with the budget speech today – but allowing a busy, beautiful building in the heart of the town to close would be bad for Boston and bad for the vital postal services that are much-needed by residents and businesses alike.

If you haven’t signed the petition yet and wish to do so, pop into our office in Church Lane or alternatively sign our e-petition.
