Water a great effort – ladies aim to boost funds

CHARITABLE members of Boston Ladies Circle will be aiming to boost the coffers for the chemotherapy suite at Pilgrim Hospital at the Community Showcase this weekend.

The ladies have already managed to raise £2,700 for the cause through a 32-mile sponsored walk, but they are hoping to increase that figure with the Central Park event on Sunday.

The group will be holding a water and wine stall, where people have to guess which bottle contains the alcohol, and a compeition to guess how balloons have been stuffed into a car.

They hope to raise around £200 on the day.

Circle chairman Liz Balderston, who is also junior sister at United Lincolnshire Hospital NHS Trust, said: “We decided to raise money for the chemo suite as it holds a special place in our hearts.

“We’re so pleased to be able to give something back for all the hard work of the staff there and we hope the community day will be a great success.”

The Showcase will be running from 10am until 4pm on Sunday and will feature a number of community organisations including Lincolnshire Police, the ambulance and fire services and Boston College.

There will be cookery demonstrations, dancing, keep fit and live music.
