THE rain did nothing to dampen the Jubilee spirit in Wyberton this weekend, as events went on as planned despite the downpour.
Residents rallied to make the make the most of the celebrations taking place in the village, turning out in their dozens for the activities.
About 100 people living on the east side of the A16 attended a special Eastenders street party, which was forced by the rain to move into St Leodagar’s Church. However, it does not seem that the move from the great outdoors damaged the enjoyment of the revellers, as this picture shows.
The party was planned by Alison Austin and organised by Elaine Hadwick, Carol Hinds and Pippa Saint
And it was just one of the events taking place in the village to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. An exhibition of old photographs and items from the 1950s is also taking place, along with a display about the history of Wyberton, and residents have been invited to a big fun day tomorrow (Tuesday) to mark the event.
