BOSTON Labour councillors thought that the recent article by Peter Hitchens in last week’s Mail on Sunday made very interesting reading.

We may not agree with all of his sentiments but it does underline that there are some major issues that need to be dealt with in Boston.

It is just over two months since Boston Labour Party wrote to the chief executive at Boston Borough Council calling for a task and finish group to be set up to look at this very thorny issue.

We are pleased to hear that the leader of Boston Borough Council has agreed to Boston Labour Party’s call for a task and finish group to look at the impacts of immigration in Boston.

Boston Labour councillors look forward to being engaged in this task and finish group where they will be asking many challenging questions regarding housing, health, education, employment and policing as a starting point.

We hope this task and finish group will be set up as a matter of urgency.

We also believe that it is important that the views of local people and businesses are sought as well as the statutory and voluntary organisations so we can seek solutions that have real outcomes.
