Letter: Answer to VAT rise - stop spending

Have your say

THERE are a lot of groans and complaints in the paper today about the increase in VAT but, to me, the answer is simple.

Just don’t buy so much. I believe that food and children’s clothing are not affected so cut down on the non-essentials.

Buy only when something is needed and you would save much more than the VAT increase. Too many people treat shopping as no more than a leisure activity, so I have no sympathy for them.
