I write this letter on behalf of my family and in memory of my lovely father-in-law who passed away recently at the grand age of 92 years.

After a fall at home he was attended by a rapid response vehicle, the lovely paramedic who was at the end of a 12 hour shift was so calm, caring and kind.

The ambulance arrived swiftly, both paramedics were superb, then on to A&E at Pilgrim Hospital and soon after transferred to the cardiac and respiratory ward, all members of staff from consultants, doctors, nurses, health care support workers, tea ladies, cleaners – they were all amazing.

Our family have never witnessed such compassion and kindness in a hospital setting before, so professional yet human too, just what was needed at the time.
I was admitted just three days after our family bereavement for surgery, then on to ward 5A for almost a week.

During that time every single member of the team were just wonderful, and I thank them all for their expertise care and kindness.
Sadly, we hear some very negative stories about our local hospital, as they say ‘a bad word travels much faster than a good one’ Well we want to make sure that these very good and positive words are heard by as many of your readers as possible.
