OFTEN we read in the local press all the things that are wrong with the Pilgrim Hospital, and I’m sure in most cases these may be quite justified. Perhaps, however, we forget that also there are good things to say about the hospital.
My wife Alison has just returned home after 13 weeks in Pilgrim following a severe stroke, and I can only praise the treatment, dedication and care she received in the Stroke Ward. Sometimes there was an obvious shortage of staff, but everyone carried on in a very cheerful and helpful manner.
Full marks to everyone on the Stroke Unit and thank you. If all the wards and departments are up to this standard we will have a hospital to be proud of.
Also, I should like to say that the support we have received from the assisted discharge stroke service since she has been home has been tremendous. So thank you to all the carers and rehab team – you do a great job.
