Poetry Corner by Angela Brown

I want to be the perfect host

On Christmas Day this year.

Try to prepare the perfect roast,

A gourmet connoisseur.

I want my guests to feel sated,

With all my Christmas fare.

Amazed by what I’ve created,

A feast beyond compare.

But if it’s all inedible,

And I look quite the fool.

Because I am unflappabe,

I’ll just smile and keep my cool.

And suggest that maybe next year,

Someone else would like to try.

So we are full of Christmas cheer –
