JAMES (Jim) Broughton, of Sydney Street, Boston, has died peacefully at home following a short illness. He was 71.

Born in Boston, he lived in the area all his life.
A married man, Mr Broughton leaves his wife Betty, son Peter, daughter Claire Brittain, grandsons Nathan Brittain, Sam Broughton and Alex Broughton, and granddaughter Lauren Brittain.

Mr Broughton worked at Dewhursts Butchers after leaving school, then Frans Buitelaars, and Wrights Butchers.
He went on to British Telecom in 1973 and retired in 1997. Mr Broughton also worked part-time as a driver for Pilgrim Hospital.

He was a member of Boston Railway Club and enjoyed football and dancing. He also loved cricket and was a founding member of Boston Youth Cricket Club.

The funeral, conducted by the Rev Andrew Wickens, was held at Boston Crematorium and followed by cremation.
Chief family mourners were: Betty Broughton (wife), Peter and Sue Broughton (son and daughter-in-law), Claire and Sean Brittain (daughter and son-in-law), Lauren Brittain (granddaugher), Nathan Brittain, Sam Broughton, Alex Broughton (grandsons), Charles and Joyce Broughton, Ernie Broughton, Percy and Sheila Broughton, Ron Broughton (brothers and sisters-in-law), Helen Maddison and Ian Stevens, Janet Pickwell (sisters and partner), Madge and David Yates (sister-in-law and brother-in-law), Midge Holland (sister-in-law), Keith and Phil, Sally, Steve and Liz, Tina, Paula, Tracy, Andrew, Richard and Christine, Paul and Angie, Gaynor, Liz, Stuart (nephews and nieces), Amber, Shannon and Hollie (great-nieces).
