JOHN William (Jack) Norris, of Church Lane, Kirton, has died at home after illness. He was 79.
He is survived by wife Joan Norris, daughters Carol Pattrick and Susan Boothby, grandsons Simon and David Pattrick and James Boothby, granddaughter Katy Boothby, sisters Madge Waite, Ivy Frost, Joyce Palmer, Peg Johnson, Betty Beeson, Ede Eldred and Shirley Gray, and brother Robert Norris.

Mr Norris was employed by Page and Priestley on leaving school. He later worked as a lorry driver for J. Bates and W. Epton and Sons and then as an excavator operator for the Black Sluice Drainage Board until retirement.

His hobbies included darts, dominoes, gardening, ballroom dancing and coach holidays. He was a season ticket holder at Nottingham Forest F.C.

He also enjoyed spending time with family members.
The funeral at Boston Crematorium was conducted by the Rev Ken Still and was followed by cremation.
The tribute from his grandchildren was made from vegetables grown in his garden.

Donations in his memory are to be split between Marie Curie Cancer Care and St Barnabas Hospice Trust.
Chief family mourners were: Joan Norris (wife), Peter and Carol Pattrick, Dennis and Sue Boothby (daughters and sons-in-law), Simon Pattrick, David Pattrick, James Boothby, Katy Boothby, Melissa Trent, Dan Reynolds (grandchildren and partners), Frank and Madge Waite, Norman and Joyce Palmer, Peg Johnson, Betty Beeson, Ede Eldred, Gordon and Shirley Gray (sisters and brothers-in-law), Robert and Sandra Norris (brother and sister-in-law), Gordon and Madge Buttery, Maurice and Kath Cook (sisters-in-law and husbands), nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members. Unable to attend: Mrs I. Frost (sister).
