THE Rev John Francis Udy, of Grosvenor Road, Frampton, has died in Pilgrim Hospital following illness. He was 83.
Born in Chard, Somerset, Mr Udy had lived in this area for 57 years.

A married man, he leaves his wife Nancy, sons Robert and Peter, daughter Helen Harrison, and granddaughters, Rachel, Megan, Rebecca and Bethany.

Mr Udy started his training as a chartered accountant in Dover and continued when he moved to Coningsby, after joining Lucas and Sharpe, now Dexter and Sharpe, in Boston in 1948.

He married Nancy in 1951 and the couple had three children and later four granddaughters.
Mr Udy qualified as a chartered accountant in 1951 and became a partner in 1968.

In 1978, Mr Udy trained as a priest and last year celebrated 25 years as an ordained priest. He ministered to parishes to the south of Boston in the Holland West Deanery.
The funeral, conducted by the Rev Angela Hughes, was held at St Mary's Church, Frampton, and was followed by interment in the churchyard.

Tributes were given at the service by Canon Margaret Barsley and Canon Neil Russell, and the Right Rev Tim Ellis, Bishop of Grantham, gave the blessing.

Arrangements by Carr Funeral Service.
