FORGET Glastonbury, V, or Leeds – Bostonians turned out for their very own festival at the weekend as Party in the Park once again came to town.
Last year’s event may have been rained off, but a few showers did not deter more than 40,000 people turning out to see what was on offer for 2008.

Crowds poured in to Boston’s Central Park over the three-day event to enjoy a selection of jazz, pop, soul, folk, hip hop, and rock – among others – with plenty of food and drink.

Boston Grammar School Jazz Band opened the weekend in their traditional spot on Friday, and were joined by girl group Fortune, hip hop artists Convicted, musicians from Bourne Grammar School and Unshaven, who topped the bill.

It wasn’t just the bands on the line-up that got to take centre stage on Saturday, Boston’s karaoke competition and Party in the Park Superstarz having their respective finals.

Internationally acclaimed Foy Vance brought his soulful voice to headline on Saturday night with other spots from Brit Chix, Contraband and Luminus.

The sunshine pulled in the largest crowd on Sunday – and there really was something for everyone with the selection including Richard Palmer performing country, swing from the CS Big Band, and indie from The Idlers.

And it wouldn’t be Party in the Park without Boston Youth Jazz Orchestra closing the show, followed by a spectacular display of fireworks.

Today's Vote

This week: Regarding the planned works at the Geoff Moulder pool do you want to see:
a) The training pool closed and £2.5m spent on the leisure pool?
b) The money split between the two pools so they can both stay open?
