Wednesday, 8.45am - MARC Newsham knows all about scoring the goals to help win promotion from the UniBond Premier League – and now the striker wants to repeat the feat at York Street.
The 22-year-old front man – one of a hat-trick of new faces snapped up by Boston United this week – grabbed eight goals while on loan at Ilkeston Town last season, helping them take their place in the Blue Square North.

This week the ex-Rotherham United attacker teamed up with his former Robins bosses Paul Hurst and Rob Scott, becoming part of their new-look Pilgrims.

The other two new faces are striker Jamie Clarke and defender James Cullingworth.

"I am really looking forward to a new challenge," Newsham said.

"I have played at Boston a few times before and now I'm looking forward to actually playing for Boston.

"I can't wait to get started."

Newsham – who bagged his final Ilkeston goal in the 4-3 play-off semi-final victory against Kendal Town – was a product of the Millers' youth ranks, going on to score eight goals in 18 senior starts and 40 substitute appearances.

He also spent loan spells with Gainsborough Trinity and
Sheffield FC.

Clarke, like Mark Camm, who signed last week, was also a Boston target midway through last season.

However, he opted to remain with UniBond North team Stamford until the end of the campaign.

The 27-year-old scored 25 times for the Daniels last season, one coming as Stamford lost 2-1 at Boston in the FA Cup.

Speaking after snapping up the ex-Grantham Town, Shepshed Dynamo, Corby Town and King's Lynn player, Scott said: "(This is) another important part of our squad building process.

"He's a player that scored plenty of goals last season and we are delighted to have him signed up for the new campaign."

Completing the trio is 22-year-old right back James Cullingworth, a former Nottingham Forest trainee.

Cullingworth was on the books of Stafford Rangers last season but ended the campaign on loan with Gainsborough.

He has also turned out for Hucknall Town.

"We are pleased James has agreed to join us," Scott continued.

"He was actually the first player we agreed terms with when we took over.

"James has been on holiday and that has delayed the announcement of the signing, but we believe it's another good piece of business."

Camm became the club's first new face last week, but the Pilgrims also have keeper Aaron Butcher, defender Liam Parker and midfielder Adam Millson under contract – the trio are the only remaining players from last season's squad.

Scott and Hurst are both on holiday this week so new new signings are expected to be unveiled by the club until Sunday, at the earliest.
