Friday, 11am - TOMMY Taylor has told Boston United's fans that he is the man to guide the Pilgrims up the UniBond Premier table.
Before last night's trip to Ilkeston, the Pilgrims had slumped to 17th in the table, picking up just one point in five league matches.
However, Taylor believes he will turn things around – refusing to rule out that his side will make the end-of-season play-offs.
"I'll talk about a relegation scrap if we get into the relegation zone," he said after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Guiseley.
"I hope the fans aren't doubting me. I came here to do a job and I want to do a job for them."
Taylor added that he feels his side are close to becoming the finished article, although occasional errors are costing them dear.
Examples of this could be seen at Guiseley, when a 1-0 half-time lead was thrown away after keeper Martyn Margarson failed to claim a corner on rushing from his goal-line, resulting in the hosts taking a shock lead.
Their misery was compounded when defender Michael Wood saw red for his trip on Simeon Bambrook.
"I'm asking the players to play a certain way and for three-quarters of the time they are doing that and we're playing well," Taylor added.
"The idea of the play-offs hasn't gone, but we need to start playing more consistently.
"I'm disappointed we've lost four of our last five league games, of course I am.
"But again it was a case of creating chances and not taking them."
United will hope to return to winning ways on Saturday.
They return to York Street where they will host North Ferriby United (KO 3pm).
This will be followed on Wednesday when Frickley Athletic are the visitors (KO 7.45pm).
