Coach returns to track action with Lincolnshire Athletics Academy

MULTI-eventer Joe Evling-White is the latest competitor to join the Lincolnshire Athletics Academy.

The 25-year-old has competed in field events such as triple jump, long jump, high jump, pole vault, shot and decathlon.

Joe qualifies for Scotland through his father and has competed for his country frequently.

He was runner-up for the male under 17 Athlete Of The Year award in the 2003 Scottish Athletic Awards at the Marriott Hotel, Glasgow.

That year he set the national age group record for decathlon aged just 16, and set club records with Corby Athletic Club (when he achieved 13.75m in the under 17 triple jump at Sheffield in 2003) and 13.82m in the under 20 triple jump at Gateshead in 2004).

He came second in the under 20 decathlon at Perpignon, France, held in 2005 and was first in under 20 heptathlon in the Scottish Championships, Glasgow that year.

He was first approached by LAA coach Dr George Skafidas to help with coaching, which he had turned to after a number of injuries, but was persuaded to return to competition.

Now he is training with the academy at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.

He continues to coach children at the University Academy, Holbeach (formerly the George Farmer School).
