Creese wins his 100th county title

The highlight for the Gold Tops was when veteran Tim Creese achieved his 100th county championship winners’ award.

The 58-year-old won the veteran men’s pole vault with a clearance of 1.80m, the shot with a putt measuring 10.93m and the javelin with a throw of 34.68m, to notch up a total of 102 Lincolnshire Championship titles acquired over an athletics career spanning 43 years.

In addition to his remarkable achievement, Tim also claimed a second and a silver award in the discus with a throw of 32.50m and a bronze through a 34.68m javelin throw.

The next most successful BADAC representative was Stuart Smith, who won four senior men’s county championship titles, two silvers and two bronze awards. On the track, Stuart won the 100m in 11.9 secs and the 200m in 24.6 secs and then took further championship titles in discus (43.28m) and shot (12.06m).

Stuart claimed silver awards in hammer (43.71m) and long jump (5.16m) and bronze awards in 400m (56.5 secs) and javelin.

Two other senior men won county titles, with David Turner in his first county championship, winning the 800m gold (2 mins 52.8secs) and James Rourk taking the 2016 400mhurdles (67.8 secs).

Adding to their achievements, David took silver in 100m (13.4 secs) and bronze in 1,500m (5 mins 59.6 secs) and long jump (4.62m).

For his part, James added silver in pole vault and 1,500m (4 mins 52.7 secs) and bronze in shot (8.62m) and discus (27.46m).

In the veteran women’s category, Emma Penson picked up a pair of silver awards, finishing second in both 800m (3 mins 26.6 secs) and 3,000m (15 mins 12.03 secs).

At under 20 level, Frances Nuttell won two golds and two silver awards through victories in high jump (1.45m) and long jump (5.05m) and then by finishing runner-up in the under 20 women’s 100m hurdles (17.5 secs) and javelin (19.63m).

Callam Winchester-Wright set a new personal best in taking the under 17 men’s Lincolnshire long jump title.

Callum cleared six metres for the first time, registering 6.05m to win the gold and added two silver awards by finishing second in both the 100m (11.5 secs) and the 200m (23.8 secs).

Two under 15 boys won awards with Oliver Simmonds earning gold with a comprehensive victory in the 80m hurdles (13.7 secs) and Alex Riches finishing runner-up in long jump (4.45m).

In the under 15 girls’ section, Emily Masters and Alicia Baxter both produced good performances in both track and field events without breaking into the top three positions.

At under 13 level, Haddley Bedford carried off two county titles, winning both the 75m hurdles in 17.3 secs and high jump (1.10m).

Both Hallam Bedford and Ryan Firth competed well, producing good performances but just missing out on a top three finish in their events.

Two under 13 girls won silver awards, with Malena Baxter finishing second in shot (5.05m) and Jessica Hawken claiming runners-up spot in the 100m (15.0 secs).
