Track and Field victory for Boston athletes

Stuart Smith made a major points contribution, winning three ‘A’ field events and one ‘B’ field competition, plus third places in a ‘B’ track race. He won the hammer with a throw of 44.46m, the discus with 44.40m and the shot with 12.03m. Stuart’s javelin throw of 39.36m gave him first place in ‘B’ competition.

Jake Louth finished second in the ‘A’ javelin with a distance of 46.00m and won the ‘B’ discus with 40.90m

All rounder James Roark took on six different events. In ‘A’ competitions he claimed three second places, recording 20.8secs in the 110m hurdles, 66.0secs in the 400m hurdles and 2.50m in the pole vault. He was second in the ‘B’ shot (9.40m) and second in the ‘B’ hammer (21.17m).

Other notable performances included Callum Winchester-Wright winning the ‘A’ long jump with a fine 6.19m and Mark Bridges taking the ‘B’ long jump with 6.07m. Callum was also third in the ‘A’ 100m (11.6), while Mark finished third in the ‘A’ triple jump (11.48).

Aidan McClure won the ‘B’ 400m hurdles in a time of 65.9. He was also third in both the ‘A’ high jump (1.70m) and the ‘B’ triple jump (10.19) and second in the ‘B’ 3000m steeplechase (14.31.7).

Although under represented in the women’s events, the female ‘Gold Tops’ produced a great team performance.

Key performances included Frances Nuttell winning the 100m hurdles (18.2) and coming second in both long jump (5.02m) and high jump (1.50m), while Emma Penson won the ‘B’ 800 metres (3.46.9) and finished second in both the 1,500m (8.00.02) and the 3,000m (16.19.03).

Emma Keay won the pole vault, clearing 1.70m, and came second in the ‘B’ javelin (18.08m), Hannah Patrick took first place in the ‘B’ high jump (1.35m) and third in both the ‘B’ triple jump (7.96m) and shot (5.63m) and Holly Millar made a fine track debut, finishing third in both the 800 metres (2.55.1) and the 3,000 metres (13.12.6).
