The news Boston Cricket Club were fearing has been confirmed - top batsman Jonny Cheer has left the club.
Back in December, Boston captain Tom Baxter said he expected the player to look for a Lincs ECB side, following his team’s relegation.
And this week, Cheer announced he has followed ex-Boston captain Paul Timby to Woodhall Spa.
Cheer scored 1,335 runs in 27 matches for the club last year.
Ironically, his top score of 144 for the First XI came in an abandoned match against his new club.
Cheer’s elder brother, bowler Colin, has already agreed to join Bourne.
Both brothers cited their wish to continue playing with the Lincolnshire minor counties side as their reason for leaving the Mayflower men.
