Tom Baxter admits that whoever triumphs in Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash will have the ‘upper hand’ in the race for promotion to Lincolnshire cricket’s top flight.
Boston Cricket Club’s First XI host second-placed Grantham on Saturday.
And with just six points separating the top two, there is all to play for.
“It should be a good game of cricket,” said Boston skipper Baxter (pictured).
The previous encounter earlier this season saw Boston bowled out for 64 before nearly defending it in bizarre scenes as Grantham won with eight wickets down.
But Saturday’s contest will prove a fresh challenge for Boston, who are intent on revenge.
Whoever wins this weekend will be in pole position for the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division title, with just four rounds of matches remaining.
Baxter refuses to start looking at life in the Lincs ECB Premier, and is concentrating on the job at hand.
He says he will prime his troops in the same manner as he does for any contest.
“We will go into it like we have done any other game this year,” Baxter continued.
“We have the intention to win the game. If we can pick up 20, then great, but the win is the most important thing.
“The winner of Saturday will definitely have the upper-hand but there are still four big games of cricket left after Saturday.”
Boston picked up 17 points by defeating Sleaford Seconds on Saturday.
